To create a UPS Online ® Tools account, go to the Carrier Account configuration [Configuration | Carriers | Carrier Accounts]. Add a new carrier type, selecting Type as UPS -- United Parcel Service and Server Type as UPS Online ® Tools. After you select OK, you will be prompted to complete the license and registration process for UPS Online Tools. You will not be able to use a UPS Online Tools account until it has been registered.
Follow the prompts to complete the license and registration process. You must view the entire license agreement (step 2). Select the "Yes, I agree" radio button by scrolling to the bottom of the agreement. You will not be able to continue until you agree to the license agreement. Select the Print button to print the entire agreement to a printer.
In step 3, enter your company information. Required fields are indicated by *. Fields required for US and Canada only are indicated by **. If you have an account number, enter it in the account number field and select next to complete the registration. If you do not have a UPS account number, select next. You will be taken to step 3a. Here you can enter the account number in the account number field if you have an account number and forgot to enter it in the previous step. Select the "click here" link to go to the appropriate UPS web site and open an account. You can then return to this screen and enter the account number generated. Or, you can select the checkbox to have UPS contact you about opening an account.
To configure your UPS Online Tools account, navigate to the Carrier Account configuration, select the UPS Online Tools account you wish to configure (it should be highlighted in gray), and select the Rat. Eng. button. Here you will find the following options:
General configuration
UPS Account Type - Select one of the following account types from the drop down list:
Daily Pickup - UPS driver will make a regular stop at your location to pick up packages.
Occasional Pickup - you decide if and when to schedule a UPS driver to pickup your shipments.
Suggested Retail Rate
Printer Type - Select whether to print UPS Online Tools labels to a laser or thermal printer. When laser is selected, labels will print to the Laser printer identified in Station Config. If set to thermal, labels will print to the Print Label Printer Type.
Note: UPS Online® Tools does not support DataMax or Sato thermal printers.
Test Mode - Select to run transactions in test mode. No data will be passed to UPS.
Display All Warning Messages - Select to display all warning messages returned by UPS to the screen.
Use UPS Online Tools Address Validation - Select to use UPS Online Tools to do address validation. Note: UPS Online Tools address validation can only be used when shipping using a UPS service.
Use UPS Online Tools Tracking - Select to use UPS Online Tools Tracking functionality when tracking UPS packages.
Use UPS Online Tools Time in Transit - Select to use UPS Online Tools Time in Transit when rating a shipment using UPS.
Verbal configuration
Name - Select the default name of person to receive Verbal Confirmation when this special service is selected.
Phone - Select the default phone number to be called for Verbal Confirmation when this special service is selected.
Ext. - Select the default extension for Verbal Confirmation when this special service is selected.
Saturday Pickup Rates will only be used if shipped on a Saturday and if that Special Service is available. If not, WorldLink will automatically ship the correct rate with the correct Manifest.
C.O.D. (Cash on Delivery) will not accept Cash option, only Secured and Unsecured.
UPS Shipping Notification is available to support the UPS Quantum View.
Tip! Remember - if you are shipping a multi-package shipment with UPS Online® Tools, tracking numbers will not be returned until the last package is processed.
Tip! Remember - if you are voiding an international multi-package shipment with UPS Online® Tools, packages cannot be individually voided. You must void the entire shipment and re-process.
