The Customers support table allows for the maintenance of customers that are recipients of your shipments. By entering data for commonly shipped-to customers, the time for processing a shipment can be reduced.
In WorldLink, you decide whether customer addressee information can be shared with others. Addresses that can be viewed by all users are global, those that cannot are private. Global customers are entered by selecting [Configuration | Support Tables | Customers]. Private customers are entered by selecting [Local Config. | Customers]. Customer codes must be unique within a list. For example, customer ABC could exist in the global list as well as several private lists. However, it can only exist once in the global list and once in any given private list.
A user group can be given the ability to see all other users’ customer address lists. To setup this control, select Configuration | Users | User Groups from the menu. When adding or editing a user group, select the Allow access to all user’s address list checkbox to allow all users in that group to access all of the private customer address lists. You can see from the User Group screen which user groups have access to all user’s address lists by looking at the View All Addr. column. See User Groups for more information.
Selecting [Configuration | Support Tables | Customers] from the menu will bring up the customer search criteria window, allowing you to enter search criteria. Enter your criteria or leave the Search For field blank to return all customers.
The Addr. Owner search criterion allows you to search for the private addresses of a particular user by selecting the Addr. Owner radio button and entering the user name in the Search for text field.
The customers window will open showing a summary of the Customer information. The Addr. Owner column will display “All Users” for global customers or, if it is a private address, the user name of the owner will be displayed. Remember that there could be multiple entries with the same code, so be sure to check the Addr. Owner.
