WorldLink is built on Microsoft SQL, a database designed for high-volume transactions, and Hosted on Microsoft® Windows® Server 2000. The WorldLink Server uses this functionality by providing an XML transaction-based web service (XML, or eXtensible Markup Language), and is similar to, but richer than HTML. An XML file can be processed purely as data by an application like WorldLink.

CMS WorldLink Simple API -- The WorldLink Simple API provides the ability to submit ship and rate requests using a single transaction call.
